Visit the Pacific and the Caribbean coasts on the same day! Our trip begins taking the road that passes through Madden dam, which was built in 1935 and is located at the Chagres River (approximately 25 miles from Panama City). Most of the dams in the country are used to store and control the rainwaterflow to provide the necessary resources for the daily transit of around 35 ships through the canal.

After a one-hour ride and passing the Gatun Locks, we will arrive to Fort San Lorenzo, located in the Atlantic Ocean. San Lorenzo is one of the oldest Spanish forts in America and was first built during the late 16th century.

The King of Spain ordered to raise a fortress in this place to overlook the mouth of the Chagres River, which was heavily used by commerce and slave ships, it was also the easiest route for marauding pirates and buccaneers to enter the country looking for booties.

Fort Sherman, which was one of the US military bases in Panama, is our next stop. Here we will rest and have lunch by the shore of a private bay.

On our way back, we will be riding to the Amador Causeway to enjoy the marvelous skyline that this strip offers. Located at the southern entrance of the Panama Canal and stretching nearly three kilometers into the Pacific Ocean, Amador joins together the four small islands in the bay: Naos, Culebra, Perico and Flamenco.

These islands were the favorite anchoring spots for the Spanish galleons that arrived from other colonies in South and Central America. In 1913 passed on to be part of Fort Grant that was used to defend the canal from possible German or Japanese attacks. The US Military Forces built a road that united the islands using rocks dredged from the Panama Canal construction.
